Kanopy

is a free streaming platform offering thousands of classic films, indie movies, documentaries, and children's content (Kanopy Kids). Kanopy offers access to over 31,000+ titles.   It is entirely free to use with a participating public library cand and has no commercials. Whether you're in the mood for a feel-good favorite or a critically acclaimed classic, there’s something for everyone thanks to your Local Ontario Community Library.

  • Basic rules: 
    • Internet service is required. (Streaming Service)
    • Kanopy is intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you may create and use a Kanopy account only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
    • Access through computer web browser, mobile app, or smart TV. (Apple Store, Google Play, Roku.)
    • Must have a valid Ontario Community Library card to set up an account.
    • Each account has 25 watch tickets to use for the month. Admission varies from one ticket to 5 tickets.
    • Kanopy Kids titles do not use tickets. So, you can watch as many kid-friendly titles as you like!
    • On the first day of each month, accounts are given a new bundle of 25 watch tickets to use. Unused tickets do not carry over.

Getting started with Kanopy

To use Kanopy, you'll need to enter your library card information and create a Kanopy account.

Choose which device/s you want to use to view your movies. 

If you choose an app,  download it from your app store (Apple, Google, Roku) then skip down to Number 1

If you choose to use a computer: in a supported browser go to  https://ontariooregon.kanopy.com/

  1. Select:  Get started.
  2. Select:  Find your library.
  3. To find a library near you, share your location when prompted or search for your library by name, city, or zip code. Ontario, Or 97914   
  4. Select your library's name from the list or map, then click Select this library.  Ontario Community Library
  5. Enter your library card number and PIN/password (if required by your library). Then, select Continue.
  6. Create your Kanopy account:
    • Enter your name, email address, and password, then select Sign up.
    • Or sign up with an existing Apple or Google account by selecting Sign Up with Apple or Sign Up with Google and following the instructions.

If you can't find your library, don't see the field to enter your library information, or you get an error message after adding your library card number and PIN,  please go to help.kanopy.com or call your library for more information 541-889-6371.
