Ontario Community Library card holders have full access to all of Ontario Community Library's resources. Now card holders also have the option to set up an online account to manage their check-outs, renewals, history, holds and  Library2Go – Ebooks and Audios.  This option can be set up when you first get your account or anytime thereafter. How to get a Library Card
  • Regular Card – Individuals/Families wishing to obtain an Ontario Community Library Card must provide the following. At the time of Registration, patrons may check out up to 6 books.  After the initial signup all Regular cards (excluding Temporary Cards) holders will be allowed up to 35 Books. (Parents may limit the number of books a child is allowed to check out.)
      • Adults  (18 years of age or older ) – Head of Household
        • A current photo ID with current address (Examples: driver’s license, passport, state issued ID card or Military ID)
        • A personal reference – The name, address, and phone number of an individual not living with you.
        • A completed registration and Internet Guidelines form
        • Cash or check for annual fee* if applicable.
      • Children (under 18 years of age)  
        • Must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
        • Parent/legal guardian must have current photo ID with current address.
        • A personal (adult) reference – The name, address and phone number of an individual not living with you.
        • A Completed Registration and Internet Guidelines form
    • Lost/Damaged Card Replacement – If you have lost or damaged your library card please contact the library as soon as possible (541-889-6371).  The Library is not responsible for items checked out on stolen or lost cards.  To replace the card please bring current photo ID and Replacement Fee to the library.  A parent or guardian will need to accompany their child to replace a lost card.
    • Temporary Card – Individuals who have recently moved to the area who have not changed their address on their ID many obtain a Temporary Ontario Community Library Card good for 6 months. Temporary Library cards allow you to check out up to 6 items at a time. To apply for a Temporary card please bring with you : your current photo ID, a personal references's contact information and a Proof of Residence – which can be one of the following : Idaho Power Bill, City Water Bill, Cascade Gas Bill or Phone Bill . At any time the patron may convert a temporary card to a regular card by presenting current Oregon ID with their new address at the front desk. 
  • Vale / Nyssa Library Card holders – If you have a current library card from the Vale or Nyssa Libraries, you may use that card to check out at Ontario Community Library.  You will need to have an internet guidelines form on file to use the computers.
  • Treasure Valley Community College and Eastern Oregon University Students – May use their current activated College Library Cards. Please bring your card and photo ID with you.  You will need to have an internet guidelines form on file to use the computers.
  • Travelers- Individuals traveling through the area from one of the 77 Libraries on the Sage Library System (Libraries of Eastern Oregon (LEO) Consortium) – may check out using their home library card and return the book through the inter-library loan system. 

Fees and Fines – (subject to change)
  • Malheur County Residents - Free* 
  • Ontario,Oregon Residents – Free 
  • Oregon Resident Outside of Malheur County (Out of Area) - Yearly $15.00 or 6 months $ 7.50 
  • Out of State Yearly $30.00 or 6 months $15.00 or 3 months $ 7.50
  • Replacement Card $ 2.00 
  • Overdue Materials Fine $.20 per day up to a total of $5.00
  • Damage or lost materials - cost is dependent upon the fees / replacement cost of the materials that have been damage or lost.  
 *Service to Malheur County is provided by the Bookmobile which is partially funded by the Malheur County budget.
